Playing with visual art

photo-22Does the phrase living in color appeal to your artistic heart? Perhaps you have dabbled in painting, collage, or other colorful endeavors in the past but have not done much lately? Would you like to do more artistic things, but don’t have the inspiration, or feel you “could never do that”? If you like to admire, but not get your hands into art materials of any kind, take a peek anyway, as there are some very fun photos to look at.

Here are three things I have found inspiring. I do not get any kickback on these, but thought some of you might enjoy this post.

First is an on-line course called BloomTrue that really got me painting with acrylics again two years ago, as well as inspiring a big project which is keeping me from blogging lately. I did more than a dozen fun explorations, though I never finished most of them (for me that was not the point- it got me PAINTING). Flora also writes a nice inspirational blog. Visit the course here.

Today I stumbled into a downloadable course on creative journaling. Wow, actually three of them with 21 different offerings. It’s worth while to just look at what is possible. I have not tried these, here is the link.

The last interesting offering is Soul collage. I have taken local classes offered through the over 50s program and quite enjoyed the process. Since there is a journaling process involved, I have found that my class members and I have had some profound experiences with this card making. But even as an “art” activity, this is a nice process. Amazing images can come together quite easily for anyone, no artistic skills needed. Part of the secret– I think– is the limiting factor of the  5” x 8” size mat board, that is easy to cover and complete in a fairly short session. Images come from magazines or whatever is at hand, and are simply glued on. The cards then get protected by a sleeve (like new greeting cards) which gives them a nice finished look and feel. Here is the website of the founder.

May you enjoy beauty wherever you find it this Spring.
